I received the letter you wrote dear
It said in a silvery script
Merry Christmas and happy new year
And you sealed it with a kiss~~~~:
I ate the envelope
I ate it in full
I tore it in pieces and mixed it into my cereal
I peeled off the stamp my dear,
And it’s become a part of me, you see
I received the card and It wasn’t too hard to eat it entirely:
I opened the card you sent
And it sung me a tune
A tinny old ditty that I thought only you and I knew
I took it apart my dear
With a longing heart, my dear
With God as my witness, It felt more like Christmas, with each paper bit that I chewed
I ate the envelope
I ate the stamp
Its a bitter card of a lonely heart bringing out this hunger I have
That’s why I ate your Christmas card
I did it for all to see
I cut out the XO and I’ll have you know that it’s hung on my Christmas tree
